About ZeroWar

Real-time Global Conflict Intelligence Platform

Our Mission

ZeroWar is a real-time conflict monitoring and satellite intelligence platform that visualizes ongoing wars, conflicts, and crises worldwide through an interactive map with multi-source data integration. Our mission is to provide accessible, objective, and comprehensive conflict intelligence to researchers, journalists, policy makers, and informed citizens.

By aggregating data from multiple verified sources and applying AI-powered analysis, we aim to create a transparent and data-driven understanding of conflict dynamics across the world.

Our Methodology

1
Data Collection

We continuously monitor and collect conflict-related information from multiple authoritative sources:

  • News Agencies: BBC, Reuters, Associated Press, Al Jazeera
  • Social Media: Verified accounts on Twitter/X
  • Official Sources: Government statements and international organizations

2
Data Processing

Our automated system processes collected information through several stages:

  • Location Extraction: Using natural language processing to identify geographic locations
  • Content Categorization: Filtering and categorizing conflict-related content
  • Duplicate Detection: Preventing duplicate entries from different sources
  • Relevance Scoring: Assessing the importance and reliability of information

3
AI-Powered Analysis

We employ advanced AI models to analyze conflict dynamics:

  • Conflict Probability: Estimating the likelihood of escalation (0-100%)
  • Trend Analysis: Identifying patterns as increasing, stable, decreasing, or volatile
  • Factor Identification: Determining key contributing factors to conflict dynamics
  • Confidence Scoring: Assessing the reliability of our analysis

4
Visualization

Data is presented through an interactive map powered by MapLibre GL with satellite overlays and real-time data from GDELT, ACLED, NASA FIRMS, and USGS. Color-coded markers indicate severity levels, and layer controls let users focus on specific data types.

Verified Sources

We rely on reputable, verified sources for our data collection:

News Agencies

  • • BBC News
  • • Reuters
  • • Associated Press
  • • Al Jazeera
  • • 40+ international news sources

Conflict Data APIs

  • • GDELT Project (real-time global events)
  • • ACLED (armed conflict data)
  • • NASA FIRMS (fire/thermal detection)
  • • USGS (earthquake monitoring)
Severity Scale

We use a 5-level severity classification system:

Level 1
Monitoring: Tensions present but no active violence
Level 2
Tension: Heightened political or social tensions
Level 3
Clashes: Sporadic violent incidents
Level 4
Active Conflict: Sustained military operations
Level 5
War: Full-scale conventional military conflict
Limitations & Disclaimer

Important: While we strive for accuracy and objectivity, users should be aware of the following limitations:

  • Information is aggregated from public sources and may not reflect complete on-the-ground reality
  • AI analysis provides probabilistic assessments, not definitive predictions
  • Data availability and quality vary by region and conflict
  • This platform is for informational purposes and should not be the sole basis for critical decisions
